The Man Who Came to Dinner – FREE Matinee

WHAT: After flying across the Atlantic with James in a giant peach last March and going under the sea with Ariel and her friends in November, the Phil-Mont Drama Department is staying on solid American soil for a rollicking, screw-ball comedy: The Man Who Came to Dinner.

In 1939, the Great Depression was waning, war was still half a world away, and playwrights Moss Hart and George S. Kauffman were kings of the Broadway box office with hits such as Merrily We Roll Along and Pulitzer Prize winner, and previous Phil-Mont production, You Can’t Take It with You. The Man Who Came to Dinner, Hart and Kauffman’s penultimate collaboration, opened to positive reviews and ran for 739 performances. In 2000, a Broadway revival featured a star-studded cast: Nathan Lane (Timon in Disney’s The Lion King), Jean Smart (Designing Women), and Harriet Sansom Harris (Frasier).

The audience will leave happy, indeed, although their sides might hurt from excessive laughter. Think of it as the most enjoyable “core workout” you can imagine.

WHEN: Wednesday, February 28

TIME: 10 am (Shows are usually 2 hours long)

WHERE: Phil-Mont Christian Academy. 35 Hillcrest Avenue  Erdenheim,  PA 19038

  1.  Volunteers will work together to lay woodchip trails in the newly restored Wingohocking watershed spring area and current wetlands location at the arboretum.
  2.  Meanwhile, our teen volunteers will learn and use woodworking skills to rebuild a tool shed in our Agricultural Village.

Hot soup lunch is included! Questions?  Contact Volunteer Coordinator Leslie Cerf at (215) 205-6561.
