Need some music?

I’ve been wanting to share for awhile about one way we have incorporated some music, super easily, into our daily routine (or mostly daily-wink wink routine). I want to get the word out there because she is opening up the enrollment for the Summer Term. And since there are still ‘stay at home’ orders for now….. It may add a little fun to your days!

Check out Enrichment Studies for more details.

We just went thru the series Classical Meets Cartoons during the months of March and April. Here’s Erica’s description from the website:

If you’re as old as I am, you probably remember watching fun Saturday morning cartoons like Tom and Jerry, Mickey Mouse, and Bugs Bunny. Those were the days, right?

One of the great things about those cartoons was the use of classical music. What a fun way to connect the younger generation to music that they might otherwise be tempted to think of as “boring.” Ha! Continue reading “Need some music?”

Some neat at home opportunities!

How about switching up some of the regular routines we’ve been doing with homeschool over the next few weeks! There are some great opportunities open to those at home! Here are a few I have found and compiled. Feel free to comment or send me an email ( so I can update this list- if you know of some other good ones!

And for those of you who are “new to school” at home– these are some things to help fill in some “bored” or down time or if you want to have some fun together.
*You don’t have to come up with a schedule and full fledged homeschool program with your kids.
*Just find some fun things to do together, explore and learn new things together!!! Someone said assign a topic a day– one day, do science things; the next, do history things; next, do art things (or do it in half day segments….)

NOTA, Conference, Matinee

You are invited to participate or attend!!!

Night of the Arts 2020

NOTA 1 2018

WHAT: Night of the Arts (NOTA) provides an opportunity for home- and cyber-educated students, grade K-12, to perform music, drama, recitations, and dance, and/or display art, craft, and project work. Over the years since 2001 we have had some unusual performances, demonstrations, or displays (juggling, unicycling, blacksmithing, weaving, and starting a thriving landscaping business). Students have also presented their own musical compositions, short stories, radio plays, or puppetry. The art work has spanned the creative spectrum. The sky (and time!) is the limit! For a relatively small and supportive audience, students can grow in their comfort level of explaining project or artwork and performing or public speaking on stage. Many children have spoken of this event being a highlight of their school year! Continue reading “NOTA, Conference, Matinee”

A Hybrid Homeschool Experience

Today, I have a guest post to share with you about a family’s homeschool experience!

Sarah Scudder is a mother of four daughters (Sophia 10, Naomi 7, Mercy 5, and Oliva 2). She has been homeschooling for 7 years. Her favorite part of homeschooling is reading all the great books to her children that she never read as a child.

My Personal Experience at Claritas Classical Academy

By: Sarah Scudder

(Sung to the tune of Old McDonald)

An object at rest will remain at rest and an object in motion will continue in a straight line at the same speed, unless an unbalanced force acts upon it. INERTIA!

As I walk through the hall, I hear children singing about inertia. I look into a classroom and see teenagers, sitting in a circle, discussing historical viewpoints and how the struggles of World War II have implications for their lives today. As I keep moving down the hall, I observe a tutor reading aloud to her students. I enter the Kindergarten classroom and am transported to Ellis Island as students re-enact the arrival and registration of immigrants. I am amazed at all that is happening and I smile. I am so grateful to be at Claritas Classical Academy. Continue reading “A Hybrid Homeschool Experience”
