Don’t Miss Out on Free Events This Week!

WHAT:  Do you have kids in their tweens or teens? Are they or you looking for some friends and fellow homeschoolers to continue with on the homeschooling journey? Come on out to this first Spring Park Day. April has set this day up to meet one another and then to discuss what our families need and plan some more events, particularly a regular schedule for this park day.

WHEN: THIS Wednesday, May 17th

WHO: 10 years old + crowd (but others are welcome to play in the park)

WHEN: 2 pm until you want to leave

Informational Meeting:  How to Start
Homeschooling in Philadelphia

Where:  Northeast Community Church  3300 Tyson Ave.  Philadelphia, PA 19149

We will briefly cover topics like:

Phil-Mont Christian Academy Home School Open House

WHAT:  The tours will be led by a Phil-Mont parent who is also a home schooler with co-op experience. She and members of our administrative team will be able to answer any questions you may have about combining Phil-Mont coursework with your home school curriculum. Personal tour dates can also be arranged, as well as an opportunities for students to “shadow” a Phil-Mont student for a day.

Science in the Summer

WHAT:   The Science of Sports. Behind every professional basketball player, gymnast, swimmer, and sprinter is a team of scientists who help athletes excel in their sport, from trainers, nutritionists and physical therapists to statisticians and equipment engineers. Students will learn about these scientists and tackle basic scientific concepts through fun, hands-on activities like experimenting with healthy sports drink recipes and creating their own bouncy balls to test bounce height against other sports balls.

WHEN and WHERE: throughout the summer at your local library!

WHO: students entering 2nd-6th grades in the Fall 2017

Living History Sundays Return to Graeme Park

WHAT:   One Sunday each month from May – October, 2017 costumed volunteers will enrich the visitor experience by presenting living history activities at Graeme Park. Volunteers will interact with guests as they tour the house or grounds and will do a short presentation at 2 p.m. on the day’s topic or theme. Topics include: Colonial Hearth Cooking, Fathers and Family in the 1700s, Reflections on Independence, The Revolutionary War & Its Impact on the Locals, Slavery at Graeme Park, Colonial Medical Practices

WHEN: mostly held on the third Sunday of each month (except where a scheduling conflict occurs) from 12 noon to 3 pm

WHERE: 859 County Line Road in Horsham, PA 19044

COST: included in the cost of your house tour:  $3/3-11,  $6/12-64,  $5/65+
