Homeschool Support Groups 2015

Looking for a homeschool group to connect with?  Here’s a list I’ve compiled of groups in or near Philadelphia.  If you have a group you’d like to add to this list, please send me an email.  My address is sarah@thelambertfam.com .

PHILADELPHIA HOMESCHOOL GROUPS & PHILDELPHIA HOMESCHOOL CO-OPS:

1.) Classical Conversations 

Event:  Group meets once a week for kids’ classes & homeschool support

2.) Mount Airy Homeschooling Co-op

Event:  Their  mission is to provide a quality diverse, secular, and inclusive environment in which children are nurtured while engaging in classes and activities in a climate of mutual respect.

Where: Unitarian Society of Germantown located just off Lincoln Drive in Mt. Airy, Philadelphia

When:  Tuesdays from 9:30 – 3:30; Teens can also meet on Thursdays from 9:30 – 4pm

3.)  Davisville Homeschool Connection

Event:  Group meets for weekly classes, play days, & field trips

Where: 325 Street Road Southampton PA, 18966

When: Tuesday mornings from 9:30-12:45. (10 weeks in the fall and 10 weeks in the spring)

4.)  Christian Home Educators’ Enrichment Resource (C.H.E.E.R.)

Event:  Helping families provide a Christ-centered, home based education for the children God has entrusted to them.  CHEER meets Friday mornings for classes & homeschool support; September through December and January through April.

5.) SALT & PEPPER at Church of the Saviour:

Event:  (Southeastern PA) Weekly classes for homeschoolers gr. 1-12 meet Wednesdays at Church of the Saviour in Wayne. SALT students (gr. 1-8) enjoy morning art, gym, and music/theater classes as well as other activities and field trips. We offer a wide variety of academic courses for SALTeens students (gr. 6-8) in the afternoon and PEPPER students (gr. 9-12) all day, as well as Friday afternoon volleyball. Moms can attend a Wednesday Bible study at COS or have the morning off. We also sponsor an annual book sale a Spring Project Fair, and group academic testing in January.  This is a Christian program open to all.

6.) Northwest Philadelphia Homeschoolers Yahoo Group:

Event:  The goal of this yahoo group is to share information about events, classes, activities and field trips that would be of particular interest to homeschooling families living in Northwest Philadelphia and the Philadelphia region. This group can also be used as a question/answer forum about homeschooling matters.

7.) Central Philadelphia Homeschoolers Group (CPHG):

Event:  The group meets solely for fun and play, and is open to all homeschoolers of all ages in the Philly area. On warm days they’re outside on the playground. On cold/inclement days they’re inside the playground building — use the door on the north side of the building, accessible from the playground. The building features a small kitchen, restrooms, and a large multi-purpose room.

Where: At Weccacoe Playground, which is located on the 400 block of Catherine Street in Queens Village (map).

8.) NE Philadelphia Homeschoolers Yahoo Group

Event: A secular support group for homeschoolers in Northeast Philadelphia and surrounding areas. Their goal is to meet and network with other homeschool families.

9.) TGIFF (The Goal is Forming Friendships)

Event:  A secular homeschool  group that seeks to create life-long friendships, a sense of community, and a support system for new and experienced homeschoolers.  The group usually has at least one event a week including: field trips, park days, community service projects, workshops, unit studies, holiday celebrations and more.

Where: Lower-Mid Bucks County, PA

10.)  Bucks County Homeschoolers

11.)  Living Bridges Homeschool Group

Event:  Living Bridges Education Program is homeschool education at its best: individual attention along with community-based support.  Choose from Enrichment support or Academic support or both!  Enrichment includes subjects such as art, gym, music, and drama.  The Academic program supports families in the core subject areas.  All of this support is given in a nurturing Catholic environment. In addition to their Enrichment and Academic Programs, they also offer standardized testing, field trip opportunities, enrichment nights for moms, and family events.

When: Every week September through May
