Where to Take Standardized Tests (2014)

It’s that time of year again!  Time to start signing up your kids for standardized tests.

Standardized Testing is required for all Pennsylvania homeschoolers in grades 3, 5, & 8.  Even though standardized testing is not required by law for grade 7, I would highly recommend that you sign your child up for testing if you are considering enrolling him/her in a magnet or private school for highschool.  Most highschools want to see 7th grade test scores.  Some magnet high schools want to see standardized test scores from 6th grade as well.

Of course, homeschoolers in Philadelphia always have the option to take PSSA’s at their local school, but for various reasons, many homeschool moms would prefer to send their children elsewhere.  You may be thinking “That’s us!  Where do Philadelphia homeschoolers go?”  Here’s a list of places I’ve compiled that may be an option for you:

WHERE TO TAKE STANDARDIZED TESTS in 2014?

1.  Where: Calvary Christian Academy, 13500 Philmont Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19116

What Test:  Stanford Achievement Test

When is the testing:  Monday, March 24th through Friday, March 28th, 2014

Times:  approximately 9am to 12pm each day

Cost:  $50 per child

Forms due by:  Feb 7th, 2014!.

Please contact:  Elementary school office ASAP  if interested.  215-969-1579 Ext 254 (An enrollment form will be mailed to you).

2.  Where:  Westminster Theological Seminary,  2960 West Church Road, Glenside, PA

What Test: Iowa Basic Skills Test

When is the testing: Monday, April14th AND Tuesday, April 15th

Times: 9am to 12:45pm

Cost: $50 per child

Contact Laura Goldman by: April 1st

3.  Where: Classical Conversations’ Online Testing Service

What Test: Stanford  10 Achievement Test

When is the testing: various dates available through March & April

Times:  Times vary per day

Cost: $55

Register by: March 2nd

Contact:  More information can be found on this site: CC online testing  including the contact person if you are interested. (You do not have to attend their co-op to take tests with them.)

4.  Where: with Audrey Johnson (certified teacher) in Northwest Philadelphia.  She is willing to test students at her home or travel to your home for an additional fee.

What Test: CAT California Achievement Test

Times:  Please contact Audrey Johnson to set a time

Cost:  Fees vary based on testing location.  (But are comparable to those listed here.)

5.  Where: Immanuel Leidy’s Church, 266 W. Cherry Lane, Souderton, PA 18964

What Test: Stanford  10 Achievement Test

When is the testing: Thursday, April 3rd, & Friday, April 4th

Times:  8:30 am to 1:00 pm

Cost: $50 per child; $55 if you register after March 9th

Register by: March 16th

Contact:  More information can be found on this site: CC testing  including the contact person if you are interested. (You do not have to attend their co-op to take tests with them.)

6.  Where: Seven Mile Road Church, 525 Welsh Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19115

What Test: Stanford  10 Achievement Test

When is the testing: Wednesday, April 23rd, & Thursday, April 24th

Times:  9:00 am to 1:30 pm

Cost: $50 per child; $55 if you register after March 22nd

Register by: March 30th
